Lady Gaga – LoveGame

“Let’s have some fun, this beat is sick/I wanna take a ride on your disco stick.” A proud motto for people who live far away from their parents everywhere or the “ooh er missus” line for da kidz to giggle and blush to, it’s a line that will go down in history and epitomises Lady Gaga to a tee. It’s hilarious and in your face, straddling the ridiculous/amazing line

If you touched the song it would be all sticky and gloopy, it oozes sleaziness and lacks subtlety. The words in the brilliant verses are sung so fast it feels like a rap but the chorus feels a bit flat when it kicks in. This song is funny, confident and commanding. Strutting around with a smattering of HUH!s and the video is as brilliant (and looks as expensive) as the rest of the Gaga videos. She’s an act worth throwing money at for this much ‘entertainment’ whatever you think of her.

Lady Gaga is a terrific singer and songwriter, a brilliant dancer with a hilarious attitude and an unforgettable look. She’s been the biggest breakthrough act worldwide and 2009 has been her year and more power to her.

This song, her fourth UK single, isn’t up there with her best but it’s a great album track and people will talk about ‘that’ line.
