HURTS – Wonderful Life

Looking at their pictures they look like a barrel of laughs but to be fair their image and song match up pretty well. It’s a very intense song. It starts off with a morbid feel and soft 80s Latin-American dancing drums and warbling on about someone called Susie before bursting in to a big beautiful chorus and then in the second verse it builds up with the same sort of thing as the first verse but with bigger drums. There’s Careless Whisper saxophone noises and it sounds like a song that knows how to be a song. It’s a very confident first single and hopefully it won’t be long until we hear an album from them.
