Roisin Murphy released her new EP Momma’s Place this week. The song itself is quite good, strutting, full of attitude and has some cool Italo noises. The song was offered as a free download from Mashable earlier in the week.
As those of you who read the site will know we’ve been keeping our eye on Sky Ferreira and earlier this week she put her cover of Miike Snow’s Animal, which has been on the internet for a while now, as a download on Twitter. It’s breathtaking. Thanks to The Bubble Boy who pointed this out to us.
Alex Winston is a New Yorker, who is working with ‘up’ and ‘coming’ producers The Knocks (who have worked with Ellie Goulding and the aforementioned Sky Ferreira and did that good Britney remix) on her debut album. While recently the words ‘60s-influenced’ would be enough to drive us to grab a sharp knife and aim for our ears, we’ve found ourselves listening to Animal Baby a lot. Laid-back and mournful the line “you’ve got somebody else, it’s tearing me up” is heartbreaking.
