Cheryl Cole – Parachute

Our three favourite songs on 3 Words were the first two singles and this one so we’re very happy that this has been chosen as the third single. Just in case you didn’t get the “I don’t need a parachute baby if I’ve got you” metaphor she handily explains that what she means is “you’re gonna catch me, you’re gonna catch if I fall down down down”.  Despite its similarities to the Come Dine With Me theme tune it still manages to be a very good, modern, sophisticated-sounding song and if any song is going to automatically sell loads of records we’re glad it’s this one.

As a sidenote, this week a girl on American Idol sung ‘Something Kinda Oooh’ in her audition. Could this be America’s ‘accidental’ (trans: on purpose) introduction to Girls Aloud and a hint that maybe Simon’s taking Cheryl to America? Not that we’re great conspiracy theorists but the song is already in Nicole Richie’s head, most definitely as a direct result and if it can fit in there with all of the huge philosophical questions running around then it can get in to the average American’s brain too.

Just a thought anyway. Watch the American Idol audtion here.

Hahahaha, it does sound similar to the Come Dine With Me theme tune now you mention it!

Completely agree with your review. They chose the singles very well.
