Florrie – Panic Attack / Call 911 (Various Remixes)
We read an interview with Brian Higgins of Xenomania this week where he talked, amongst other things, about how important it is to build an online presence these days and that he regretted not doing so with Alex Gardner (whose debut single charted at #44 the other week) because he didn’t think at the time that it would be necessary. They have clearly decided not to make the same mistake again with Florrie who has been consistently tweeting, making video blogs but more than that, making remixes of her songs available to download for free. These remixes have been sent to lots of different blogs from the more commercial to the widely-read-so-not-really-that-underground blogs which gives the whole thing a do it yourself, underground feel to the whole project which in Brian’s view is essential since “if you service a record to Radio 1, the minute you go in with it, they’re on Google, looking to see what the online presence is. They are now using that as a determination of how hip or cool something is. Regardless of the quality of the record or the act, if that presence isn’t there, they will not play the record”.
After the Fred Falke remix of Call 911 created a buzz we were happily surprised to get a Fred Falke mix of Panic Attack very soon afterwards. (Doesn’t Florrie and Fred sound like the cutest double act name?) Now we have three more remixes of Panic Attack. All three are good and we recommend that you click and listen to them, then choose which to download.

AND
Florrie sent her remix of Call 911 on Friday presumably in case you were enjoying Panic Attack so much that you’d forgotten all about Call 911. Surprisingly (trans: unsurprisingly) it’s good.
While they are all very good, what they do more than anything is make us really want to know what the proper versions sound like and *spins around to face camera with a click and a pointed finger* that’s buzz for you.
